Independence Day Celebration at BINUS SCHOOL Serpong
In enforcing The Six Pillars of Character, BINUS SCHOOL Serpong chooses the value of “Citizenship” as the theme of the month. It is because Indonesia celebrates its Independence Day on the 17th August. This year, BINUS SCHOOL Serpong celebrates such a lively Indonesian Independence Day. Ms. Elsie L. Bait, the ECY/EL Principal, and her team have prepared a series exciting of activities for the young BINUSIANS. It is a week full of Independence Day celebration, where students are truly experiencing the spirit of patriotism as embedded by our Indonesian national heroes.
During the Independence Week, the ECY and EL students played various Indonesian traditional games, such as marble race, hula-hoop race, relay race, sack race, and tug-of-war. They compete to find the winner in each level. Through these fun Indonesian games, the young BINUSIANS are simultaneously practicing their leadership and teamwork to be the most competitive team. You can see the excitement of the students through their faces. Ms. Elsie and her team also have prepared a lot of presents for the winners to the delight of the students.
The peak of the Independence Day celebration at BINUS SCHOOL Serpong is the Assembly. ECY students gathered together in Main Library Hall to sing various Indonesian national songs, such as Hari Merdeka and Maju Tak Gentar. EL students had their flag ceremony in the Sjuman Hall. Some of the Student Council Officers are the main contributors for the Independence flag ceremony. Twelve of them were in charge to be the flag hoisting troop, while the others were in charge to be the Master of Ceremony, the preamble reader, the Pancasila officer, and the prayer leader. In her Independence Day speech, Ms. Elsie gave advice for the students to love their family, their school, and their country. She hopes that the young BINUSIANS will be able to create a better Indonesia and be little heroes/heroines in their own ways.
What a lively celebration of the Independence Day in BINUS SCHOOL Serpong. Be proud of Indonesia BINUSIANS! Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! (Translation: freedom).
