This week is Language Week. It’s time to celebrate different languages! Learning languages is a good thing, especially English. Due to globalization and international business, being able to understand and speak in English is a plus.
This week had great participation from EL students. The Elementary Division of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong hosted an Interschool Speech Competition with the topic “Are Millennials Doomed to Fail?” The participants were from BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, Sekolah Terpadu Pahoa, Tzu Chi School, Jakarta Nanyang School, and Global Jaya School.
It was an intense and very tight competition. The participants had to defend their stand on whether Millennials being known to be privileged and technologically advanced are doomed to fail. A lot of the students brought up reasons and examples of Millennials who have surpassed expectations and have broken barriers in different fields such as, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook.
The winners of the competition were Adeline Ivanna Liora of EL 6A in 3rd place and Florence Sophia Mercado Deogrades of EL 6B in 1st place, both from BINUS SCHOOL Serpong. The School wants to expose BINUS SCHOOL Serpong students to different kinds of competitions as well as foster friendships across schools.
