“Cultural differences should not separate us from each other, but rather cultural diversity brings a collective strength that can benefit all of humanity.” -Robert Alan.
As an appreciation of the richness of cultures, BINUS SCHOOL Serpong held an annual event called Internationalism Week to raise students’ attention about the cultural diversity of the world. This program is intended for BINUSIANS to appreciate and love the beauty of our differences through a celebration of various activities.
This programme also intended to heighten students’ awareness of world current issues, such as natural disasters, environment, and poverty. With the theme “Planet or Plastic”, the biggest concern of the world, each year, 9 million tons of plastic waste ends up in the ocean. Some estimates suggest this plastic could remain in marine environments for 450 years or longer, and the problem is only getting worse. So we need to care more about our earth and start to do something starting with this event.
Also, it is a reminder that the world we live in is everyone’s shared responsibility. Let’s understand different cultures, care about each other, make friends all over, be a citizen of the world.
