BINUS SCHOOL Serpong’s Commitment in Developing Indonesia
BINUS SCHOOL Serpong remains committed to develop the community around the school’s neighborhood. Through a collaboration between BINUS SCHOOL Serpong Student Council and the MSHS library resource centre, Adopt-a-school has been one of the most successful student initiated programmes of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong. The programme aims to assist less fortunate schools within BINUS SCHOOL Serpong neighborhood. SMP Al-Hasaniyah is the first school to be adopted. SMP Al-Hasaniyah has received various supporting facilities to enhance students’ studying experience in campus since 2015, such as building renovation assistance and donation of traditional musical instruments.
The newly elected Student Council Officers and MSHS Library officers are back to SMP Al-Hasaniyah to donate more supporting facilities to enhance the teaching and learning activities of the school. There are LCD Projectors, Gymnastic Mats, Wall Fans, and some sinks. The vice principals of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, Mr. Henry Karema, Ms. Regina Raj, and Ms. Mariza Lardizabal were also present to personally deliver the donations for SMP Al-Hasaniyah.
“Adopt a School helps us to pay more attention with people in our community. In my opinion, this program is a good exercise to develop my moral awareness. I hope this cooperation may continuously develop both BINUSIANS and SMP Al-Hasaniyah students.” said Gabriella Julie, the current chairman of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong Student Council.
The next milestone of the Adopt a School program is to assist not only SMP Al-Hasaniyah, but also to other schools around BINUS SCHOOL Serpong. BINUS SCHOOL Serpong hopes that every BINUSIAN may give a real impact for Indonesia, especially in education sector.
