Charity Market 2019
“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
Hard work paid off because the annual charity market was very heart warming. The excitement of the Student Council when preparing the event, getting the products, counting and coordinating with each other have left a tug in the hearts of the recipients. So much happiness was evident in the participants. The students were able to sell basic commodities at very low, affordable prices. Each consumer went home with 1 kilo of sugar, 2 liters of cooking oil, 1 kilo of rice, 10 packs of instant noodles, 10 sachets of coffee and 1 bag of 5 eggs, all for a cost of 50,000.00 rupiah. Overall, the student body had gained approximately 15,000,000 rupiahs which will be donated to Trash Hero Indonesia, Animal Hope Shelter, Rumah Faye, Centre for Orangutan Protection.
Charity had traditionally always been personal, not only primarily springing from a sense of duty or compassion in an individual, but also mostly aimed at individuals, be it one person or a group in need. Helping others can actually boost our own wellbeing. When we do charity, we create opportunities to meet new people who believe in the same causes that inspire us. That, and making a real impact on those causes, can infuse your everyday life with more meaning. The PSG also enlivened this event by selling their preloved goods for everyone.
Our most sincere gratitude to all our kind hearted student donors, student volunteers, parents and teachers. Keep inspiring every BINUSIAN!
