ECY/EL BINUS SCHOOL Serpong Science and ICT Week

From November 7th until the 11th, ECY/EL BINUS SCHOOL Serpong held their Science and ICT Week, and this year the all-encompassing theme was innovation!

After doing online activities for the past 3 years, we went back to the basics and got our hands dirty while also getting our minds sharp. The name of the game was creative problem solving and critical thinking, to find new ways of doing things and to have the courage to try something unique. Thankfully, the students were more than up to the challenge.

ECY 1 explored different materials and buoyancy with their dancing jellyfish. ECY 2 made cardboard cars and tested them against different ramps. ECY 3 got their doctor hats on and did full-on experiments about tooth care and sound.

Over on the EL side of things, EL 1 made marble paper with shaving cream and flew paper planes. EL 2 made catapults and tried to see who was most on target. EL 3 tackled engineering challenges by building tough houses and tall towers, while EL 4 used magnets to map out the school grounds and then again to make art. EL 5 brought color with tie-dye experiments and by building drawing robots. Lastly, EL 6 sought to answer the age-old question: If I were to throw an egg from the fourth floor of the EL building, how could I slow down its fall enough to keep it from cracking?

It is our hope that everyone had a fun time and, crucially, that our students made their sense of curiosity stronger, their creativity more courageous, and their minds more innovative.
