The Story of Ms. Novia

Hi everyone! My name is Novia. I am the ECY/EL International Curriculum Coordinator of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong. I earned my Post Graduate Diploma in Education from a reputable university in Indonesia. I have been working in BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, a home for learning since 2008.

I believe the purpose of an educator is to enhance minds and touch lives. Most people can look back at their school years and think of at least one teacher that has touched their lives in one or more ways. I am so grateful that a teacher made a difference in my life. She inspired me to do my best even when an unexpected life situation arose. She believed in me. Blessed to be a blessing is the reason I become a teacher.

The opportunity to make a positive difference in my students’ lives is something that is important to me. There is nothing better than being a part of or witnessing the joyful “lightbulb” moments when students make connections with what they are learning at school.

A teaching profession also requires creating a safe space for learning, students are more likely to share their ideas and try new things without fear of failure. When students feel that their talents are recognized and valued by their teachers, they are more likely to cultivate them and use them for personal growth. I feel great to be a part of my students’ journeys as I encourage and cheer them on to work on their goals, overcome their challenges and nurture a better version of themselves, every day. This is a huge responsibility, but a rewarding one for me.
