Puteri Indonesia 2024, Harashta Haifa, in collaboration with Badan Pangan Nasional, campaigned against food waste at BINUS SCHOOL Serpong. This initiative promoted the #MotherofNature movement and supported the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Harashta Haifa expressed that this campaign, aimed to educate and inspire young people and other schools to take similar actions. The goal was to increase awareness about environmental and social issues.
“I hope this collaboration can educate all BINUS SCHOOL Serpong students about food waste and stopping food wastefulness. These students are agents of change for Indonesia, and they are very enthusiastic about this movement and its educational aspects,” she said on Friday (31/5).
Nita Yulianis, Direktur Kewaspadaan Pangan dan Gizi Badan Pangan Nasional, stated that this was part of the government’s effort to promote the Save Food Movement and to raise awareness about the importance of preventing and reducing food waste among young people.
The government collaborated with Yayasan Puteri Indonesia and BINUS SCHOOL so that students could become agents of change in maintaining food security and nutrition in Indonesia, align with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The visit of Puteri Indonesia 2024 to BINUS SCHOOL Serpong also supported the vision of Bina Nusantara to foster and empower society.
ECY & EL Principal of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, Mariza Lardizabal, stated that the school highly appreciates activities addressing environmental issues, particularly food waste. Through this movement, students can find a reference point to become more active and contribute to preserving their environment. Small steps, if done continuously and collectively, can have a significant positive impact.
