For high school students, preparing for university is a crucial step in shaping their future. Navigating options, understanding admissions, and exploring career paths require structured guidance. Therefore, BINUS SCHOOL Serpong through University Guidance Counselor developed a comprehensive University Preparation Series, designed to equip them with the necessary knowledge and exposure.

As part of this initiative, we recently hosted the Mini University Fair in collaboration with CIALFO. This event welcomed representatives from five esteemed universities from the UK, Australia, and Canada, consisting of the University of Central Lancashire, University of Exeter, University of Sheffield, University of Ottawa, and Vin University. This mini University fair event provides students with a unique opportunity to explore international higher education prospects.

The Mini University Fair: A Gateway to Global Opportunities

Our school’s Mini University Fair served as an essential platform for Grade 10 students to interact directly with university representatives where they gained firsthand insights into academic programs, admissions, and global learning experiences. Through interactions and meaningful discussions with the university’s representatives, students could better understand the pathways available to them beyond high school.

Ms. Christa, University Guidance Counselor at BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, emphasized the importance of such exposure as an introduction to diverse university options for students’ academic future. 

The meeting with the university’s representatives allowed students an opportunity to gain clarity on admission processes and campus life, all crucial factors in making an informed decision. And, this is the objective of the Mini University Fair for our students. 

Hearing from University Representatives: Opening Windows to the World

Having direct access to university representatives allows students to hear real stories and experiences that can shape their academic decisions. 

Mr. Stanley, Co-Founder of CIALFO, highlighted the significance of these interactions, “This event is extremely important as it allows students to hear firsthand experiences from university representatives. Many students don’t get the chance to visit international campuses, so engaging in conversations with representatives gives them valuable insights into studying in the UK, Australia, and Canada.”

Beyond the administrative process, direct discussion with the university’s representatives enriched students’ insights regarding the unique possibilities. Our students explored information regarding scholarship opportunities and internships that will help them plan their financial, but also career pathways, and the real view of job markets upon completion of their future college life. 

These aspects expanded their perspective about the importance of global education exposure while keeping their decision making process realistic. 

Empowering Informed Decisions: The Comprehensive University Preparation Series

The Mini University Fair is one of many initiatives under BINUS SCHOOL Serpong’s University Preparation Series, ensuring that students from Grade 9 to Grade 12 are well-prepared for higher education. Each month, with our University Guidance Counselor, our school organizes tailored events, for both students and their parents, including:

  • University fairs, such as the New Zealand University Main Fair and the US Mini Fair.
  • University information sessions featuring representatives and alumni who share firsthand experiences.
  • Guest lectures.
  • Parents seminar to equip students’ parents with critical knowledge in supporting students’ academic journey.
  • Talent and Interest Assessment to gather insights about students’ potential and interest as references for discussion with students’ parents. 

The series manifests our vision in bringing the collective effort within our school bodies and parents to empower students in a holistic way ahead of their academic future.
