Innovate, Code, Create: An Interactive Experience Inside BINUS SCHOOL Serpong’s Physics Class
In the heart of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, a group of bright and curious minds are reshaping the way we learn physics. No longer is it just about memorising facts or passive learning. Our Grade 11H BINUSIANS are diving into the world of technology, bringing theoretical concepts to life through hands-on projects. By integrating sensors, Arduino, and coding, they learn physics and create the future.
A Hybrid Learning Experience
Step inside our Grade 11 Physics class, and you’ll see something extraordinary. Students are immersed in an innovative project where they are required to design and build prototypes that incorporate sensors, Arduino, and coding.
This initiative is about understanding electricity and applying that knowledge in a way that mirrors real-world technological advancements. Through programming and circuit design, students are bridging the gap between textbook theories and tangible applications.
With this hands-on approach, students gain a deeper understanding of electrical concepts while developing problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and creativity. The result? Ingenious prototypes that showcase their ability to merge physics with technology.
Project Highlights
Here are two exciting projects they are currently working on:
Project #1: Face Tracking System
Imagine a camera that follows your every move, adjusting itself based on your position. This is precisely what our students have built. The Face Tracking System operates by detecting a person’s movement along the x- and y-axes. As the individual moves left or right, up or down, the camera seamlessly follows, keeping them in focus.
But, what makes this system so worthwhile? Independent content creators, for example, often struggle to film themselves without an extra pair of hands. This system eliminates that challenge, allowing seamless recording without the need for a camera operator. It’s an efficient and innovative solution that demonstrates how technology can enhance creativity and productivity.
Project #2: Mini Burglar Detector System
Security is a growing concern in today’s world, and our students have taken a step towards a smarter safety solution. The Mini Burglar Detector System is an Arduino-powered security device that detects movement and provides real-time feedback.
Here’s how it works: An Arduino UNO R3 board is connected to a servo motor and an ultrasonic sensor. The sensor measures distance, detecting when an object (or a person) approaches. If the detected object moves closer, the system triggers an alert, signalling potential unauthorised access. The setup is neatly arranged on a breadboard, ensuring seamless connectivity between components.
This project isn’t just an academic exercise; it’s a practical demonstration of how sensor technology can be applied in home security. By integrating coding and physics, students have developed a functional prototype that showcases the potential of automation in everyday life.
Bridging Knowledge with Innovation
At BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, we believe that learning should be an interactive and transformative experience. This physics project goes beyond equations and formulas, immersing students in the process of designing, coding, and engineering real-world solutions.
By working on these prototypes, our students gain hands-on experience in electrical circuits, programming logic, and system design. More importantly, they cultivate essential skills such as teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving. Qualities that are indispensable in the modern world.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Tech Leaders
At BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, we empower students to think critically and innovate. Our Physics class encourages creativity and hands-on problem-solving, allowing students to design and build functional prototypes. They apply physics concepts while exploring the endless possibilities of technology.
Grade 11 students showcase their talent and determination through groundbreaking projects. With the right tools and opportunities, they push boundaries, embrace challenges, and lead the way toward a future shaped by innovation.
