BINUS SCHOOL Serpong IPO DAY 2025 where Innovation Meets Investment
We realised that the hyper-dynamic world evolution requires our young generation to be highly creative, efficient, and capable individuals in taking proportional risks. Correspondingly, BINUS SCHOOL Serpong offers business subjects as part of our curriculum for secondary school students.
In a demonstration of our holistic and hands-on learning approach for business subjects, BINUS SCHOOL Serpong organised an IPO DAY for Grade 11. This event was a prelude to Entrepreneurship Day on April 22nd, offering students an unparalleled real-world learning experience that emphasised innovation and sustainability. IPO DAY 2025 allowed them to demonstrate their readiness to navigate the complexity of the finance and investment world with confidence and creativity.
IPO Day of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, An Experiential Learning Platform
BINUS SCHOOL Serpong designed the IPO DAY as a unique and real-life simulation to immerse students of Grade 11 in the intricate process of an Initial Public Offering (IPO) that they theoretically learned in class.
The event witnessed how students were stimulated to meticulously prepare and present their own business ideas, adhering to the theme of ARISE (Achieve Realistic Impact for Sustainable Entrepreneurship). During the day, each group acted as a budding corporation and proactively offered shares in their ventures to fellow students and teachers who stepped into the role of prospective investors.
Our IPO DAY 2025 was an experiential learning approach that allowed BINUSIANS to apply knowledge of marketing, explore the mechanics of stock issuance, and engage in direct business pitching. By the end of the day, they were expected to grasp how companies raise capital by selling shares of their companies, transforming the classroom theories into practical applications in an engaging setting.
Innovative and Sustainable Business Ventures
The core of IPO Day 2025 lies in the remarkable innovative and sustainable business ventures conceptualised by our Grade 11 students. The ARISE theme guided and challenged students to develop businesses centred around the crucial 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
They were encouraged to leverage their knowledge of marketing, the marketing mix (4Ps), and market structures. Then, they created a diverse range of food and non-food products designed for positive environmental and social impact.
With aligned initiatives to sell, these young entrepreneurs showcased their ability to identify market needs while promoting responsible innovation and a greener future. Each stall during the recess period evidenced their creativity and commitment to a sustainable world, which was the aim of this year’s theme.
Learning the Ropes of Business Growth and Investment
Beyond just launching businesses, IPO Day 2025 was a profound learning curve in business growth and attracting investment. Through the process of business conception to business pitching when facing investors, grade 11 students gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of how an IPO works, encompassing steps of setting share prices to managing shareholder data.
From ideation to IPO event, BINUSIANs honed critical presentation skills where they learned to effectively articulate their business vision and financial projections to potential investors.
Each team was responsible for preparing digital share certificates and meticulous Excel sheets to record shareholder details, including names, account numbers, email addresses, and phone numbers, for potential dividend distribution. These tasks required them to learn about data management as well.
A target of issuing 600 share certificates (360 internal and 240 external) made the simulation more immersive. They employed various promotional strategies, including banners and posters, to convince shareholders. Moreover, they worked with a target-oriented mindset, building their competitive skills forward.
The detailed process provided a realistic understanding of business development strategies, capital generation, and the art of attracting vital investment for growth, which are the fundamentals of business development principles.
Entrepreneurship Education as a Learning Game Changer
For Grade 11 students, who are actively shaping their academic pathways and beginning to envision their futures, entrepreneurship education emerges as a pivotal force. Through hands-on simulations like IPO DAY, entrepreneurship education transformed theoretical learning into a dynamic, real-world application.
It’s not merely about nurturing future business owners but about developing a robust set of skills that are universally invaluable, regardless of the career path chosen. It cultivates crucial skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability. Students apply their knowledge to develop strong communication, leadership, and financial literacy.
As we reflected on their innovative and sustainable ventures, our anticipation for the upcoming Entrepreneurship Day on April 22nd grew. BINUS SCHOOL remains dedicated to nurturing future-ready entrepreneurs to make a significant impact in the global business landscape.
